Monday 4th May 2020 - SPaG

I have noticed that Idriss uses contractions in his sentences when he is talking. I am worried that he will not be able to write formally (without using contrations like 'didn't' instead of 'did not'). He will need this skill when he goes to university, so it is important he learns early.

I have told him how great you are at recognising contractions and he has asked if you could show him.

Can you rewrite the sentences below using the full words instead of the contractions?


  1. I'm not happy.
  2. The race hasn't ended.
  3. You're eating the sweets.
  4. I'd like some pizza.
  5. They won't be as tasty as last time.
  6. We shouldn't play with our food.
  7. He'd have won if he had better luck.
  8. If they go to the island they'll find the treasure.
