Today we are going to create a setting as an opening for a narrative.
I want you to think about the work you did yesterday describing what you could see in the short animation, Marshmallows.
Today we are going create more description for our opening by adding in elements of the forest we did not see in the animation.
Can you come up with a list of things you might see or hear in the forest?
Watch and listen to this short video to help you think of things you might see and hear.
What animal noises might you hear? What noise would the trees make in the wind?

Now read the setting description below and pay attention to the flow of the piece and the sentence openings.
Look at where the water is mentioned in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th lines. The water is used to help the flow of the text.
What words are used to describe the water?
Can you write an opening to the animation Marshmallow using exciting adjectives, verbs and preposition?
I will get you started!
Night was creeping in... The surface of the icy, dark lake barely moved. Up above, dark menacing clouds rushed across the sky as if they were in a hurry to be somewhere.
Below is a list of suggestions to help you write your setting, but I know you will come up with your own fantastic examples!
Don't forget to send a picture of your work to debeauvoirprimaryschool@gmail.com so I can read and post your fabulous work!
