We are going to be learning about plants in science over the next few weeks.
Can you tell me the parts of a plant?
Do you know what each part does?
Can you list the parts of a plant and their function? If you need help, click on the link below for a short video on plants.

6.Shoot
A plant has many different parts that preform functions.
The two main parts are the roots and the shoots
Roots usually grows under the ground, while shoot usually grows above the ground.
Leaves grow on the steam and branches. They are usually green due to the presence of chlorophyll, which helps them to prepare food.
Leaves have small openings called stomata, through which plants take in and give out air.
Roots absorb the water and minerals require for the growth of the plant.
We could add:

shoot
stem

Roots usually grows under the ground, while shoot usually grows above the ground.Roots help to anchor the plant to the ground.Roots absorb the water and minerals required for the growth of the plant.
The stem is the stalk of the plant. It helps the plant to stand up right. The stem carries water and minerals from the roots to the leaves and carries food prepared by the leaves to the different parts of the plant.
Branches are parts that grow from the stem.
Leaves grow on the stem and branches. They are usually green due to the presence of chlorophyll, which helps them prepare food.
Leaves have small openings called stomata, through which plants take in and give out air.
Flowers are the reproductive parts of the plant. They come in different shapes, sizes and colours.
By the process of pollination, many flowers develop into delicious fruits, which are eaten by us.
Flower:The flower contains the reproductive organs of the plant.
ReplyDeleteStem: A stem is one of two main structural axes of a plant, the other being the root
roots: The root is usually below the ground. It has two main functions: 1) It absorbs the water and minerals from the soil and sometimes stores food. 2) It holds or anchor the plant firmly in the soil
leaves: A typical leaf consists of three main parts: leaf base, petiole and lamina
seeds: A seed is a fertilized ovule containing the plant embryo. Given the appropriate growth conditions, it will become the new plant.
